Mary Young
As a high school English teacher, I encourage my students to enjoy their education. I strive to incorporate students'
interests into the curriculum whenever possible.
I have designed this website with pages that will help me get to know you, my students, and what your interests are, and
for you to get to know me and my teaching style.
I have included pages where students can interact and share their favorite movies, lyrics, books, magazines, plays, poems
and interests with other students. I have also included the Student Interests Survey that you are required to hand in by the
second day of class and a page that explains the two Presentations Assignments and how they will be graded. Parents and students
are welcome to email me with any questions or concerns. My email address is at the bottom of each page.

Since I am asking my students to fill out the Student Interests Survey, I feel it is only fair that I tell you some of
my background and interests, also.
I look forward to exchanging ideas with each and everyone of you.

I have a cat named, "Bum" that walks across my keyboard while I am writing a poem, adding her own inventive
words to mine. Then, she eats the paper as it comes out of the printer.
So I wrote her this haiku poem (A three line poem in which the first line is 5 syllables, the second line is 7
syllables, and the last line is 5 syllables):
My cat nibbles words
She climbed into this poem
Ate it all and burped
